The Role
We are looking for a Summer Intern to join our fundraising team and support the full lifecycle of our grants work, from researching funders to drafting proposals to tracking outcomes. This role will provide hands-on experience across the full grant lifecycle, from research to writing to reporting, while working closely with our VP of Strategic Initiatives and BDP senior leadership.
This is an ideal opportunity for a college student or recent graduate interested in nonprofit development, impact investing, real estate, and housing and homelessness work who is looking to build practical skills in writing, research, and systems management.
What You Will Do
Grant Research and Pipeline Support
Research grant opportunities across 7+ target cities, covering foundations, corporate funders, and public sources
Track deadlines, requirements, and alignment with organizational priorities
Maintain a clear, organized pipeline of upcoming opportunities
Grant Writing and Submissions
Draft and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials
Support the preparation and submission of applications; strong performers may contribute to live submissions
Collaborate with internal teams to gather data and program outcomes needed for proposals
Grant Tracking and Reporting
Track submitted applications and funding decisions
Help draft funder reports and updates
Ensure reporting requirements and deadlines are met
CRM and Fundraising Operations
Help build the operational infrastructure that makes our fundraising scalable
Maintain and update our CRM with grant activity, deadlines, and contacts
Support reporting and data organization in collaboration with the VP of Strategic Initiatives
Communications
Assist in launching and supporting a quarterly newsletter and other communications
Develop written materials for funder outreach and stakeholder engagement
What We Are Looking For
Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate
Strong writer with solid research instincts
Highly organized and genuinely detail-oriented
Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines without hand-holding
Interest in housing, homelessness, or social impact work
Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative, remote environment
Details
Compensation: $750 per week; no benefits
Duration: 6 to 10 weeks, with timing based on candidate availability
Fully remote, with optional in-person meetings in New York or Philadelphia; travel costs to be reimbursed if required
